What Happened
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module in your vehicle is a critical computer that helps control your brakes. In some 2010-2015 Hyundai models, this module can leak brake fluid and cause an electrical short, which can lead to a fire.
Risk if Unfixed
If the ABS module fails, it can cause an engine compartment fire while you're parked or driving. This increases the risk of serious injury from burns or other fire-related hazards.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will replace the ABS fuse for free, which should be done as soon as possible to ensure your safety. You should also park your vehicle outside and away from flammable materials until the repair is complete.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 Elantra, Genesis Coupe, Sonata Hybrid, 2012-2015 Accent, Azera, Veloster, 2013-2015 Elantra Coupe, Santa Fe, 2014-2015 Equus, 2010-2012 Veracruz, 2010-2013 Tucson, 2015 Tucson Fuel Cell, and 2013 Santa Fe Sport vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.

What Happened
The front coil springs in your Elantra or Sonata are the metal parts that support your vehicle's weight and help keep it stable. In certain models from 2010 and 2011, these springs can weaken and break due to corrosion from road salt.
Risk if Unfixed
If one of the front coil springs breaks, it could poke through your tire and cause a flat, which might lead to a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011 Elantra vehicles manufactured November 12, 2010, to March 31, 2011, and Sonata vehicles manufactured December 11, 2009, to February 28, 2010, originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. Road salt may corrode the front coil springs, possibly resulting in the coil springs fracturing.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front coil springs, free of charge. Interim notifications were mailed on November 17, 2015. The recall began on January 6, 2016. What Happened
The headliner support bracket in your Elantra is a small part that holds the roof lining in place. In some 2011-2013 models, this bracket can come loose and hit you during a side airbag deployment.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you could get a serious cut or laceration injury from the loose bracket. This is a potential risk in a side collision.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will apply a special adhesive strip to the headliner to keep the bracket in place, and this repair is completely free for you. You should schedule the fix as soon as you get the recall notice.

The 12V accessory socket outlet in your vehicle is for charging small devices like phones or tire inflators. In some 2011-2012 Elantra, Sonata Hybrid, Accent, and Veloster models, this outlet was installed incorrectly and could overheat.

The 12V accessory socket outlet may have been over-tightened during installation, possibly disabling the thermal fuse and allowing the outlet to overheat with prolonged use, such as by using the Tire Mobility Kit air compressor to inflate a tire.

What Happened
The ESC system in your Elantra helps prevent skidding and loss of control. It uses sensors to detect if your car is losing traction, but in some 2011-2012 models, these sensors can malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If the ESC system thinks your car is skidding, it could suddenly apply the brakes on one or more wheels, and reduce engine power. This could make your vehicle harder to control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Your Hyundai dealer will check the ESC sensors, update the system's software, and make sure everything is working properly – all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair once you receive the recall notice.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Elantra vehicles manufactured October 29, 2010, to October 25, 2011. Due to an electronic stability control (ESC) sensor malfunction, the brakes for one or more wheels may be applied unexpectedly and the engine power may be reduced. These symptoms will be accompanied by illumination of the ESC indicator lamp in the instrument cluster.
