What Happened
The anti-lock brake system control unit in your Hyundai is the brain that helps your brakes work smoothly. In certain 2007-2011 Elantra and Entourage models, water could seep in and cause a short circuit in this unit.
Risk if Unfixed
If the brake control unit shorts out, it could cause a fire in your engine compartment, even when your car is turned off. This could lead to injuries from burns or other accidents.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will install a protective relay in the main junction box to prevent the ABS system from shorting out, even when the car is off. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
