What Happened
The EGR valve in your Elantra, Venue, or Kona is a small computer-controlled valve that helps reduce emissions. It could develop an electrical short circuit, like a spark in a circuit board, and fail while you're driving.
Risk if Unfixed
If the EGR valve fails, your car could lose power and stall on the road, making it hard to control. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will replace the faulty EGR valve with a new one, at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

Original — What Happened
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2024 Elantra, Venue, and Kona vehicles. An electrical short circuit may occur in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve assembly, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the exhaust gas recirculation valve assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 28, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 260.
