What Happened
The emblem on the front of your Elantra's air bag is a small metal cover that protects the bag when it deploys. But in some 2022 and 2023 models, it might not be attached properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the emblem comes loose while the air bag deploys, it could hit someone inside the vehicle, potentially causing an injury.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will replace the air bag cover with a new one, completely free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

The seat belt pretensioner is a critical safety component that tightens your seat belt during a crash. In certain 2020-2022 Accent, Elantra, and Elantra HEV models, this part can explode when it's supposed to deploy, sending sharp metal fragments into the vehicle.
Risk if Unfixed
If the seat belt pretensioner explodes, it could shoot metal shards into the cabin and harm you or your passengers. This is a serious injury risk, and we want to address it immediately.

Hyundai's number for this recall is 229. This recall expands and replaces NHTSA recall numbers 21V-796, 22V-069, 22V-218, and 22V-123 for Accent, Elantra, and Elantra HEV vehicles. All Accent, Elantra, and Elantra HEV vehicles already repaired under the previous recalls will need to have the new remedy completed.

What Happened
The rearview camera in your vehicle helps you see what's behind you when you're in reverse. In some 2021-2022 Hyundai models, the camera's printed circuit board can be damaged, causing it to stop working.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rearview camera fails, you won't be able to see what's behind you when you're reversing. This increases the risk of a crash, especially when backing out of a parking space or driveway.

Your Hyundai dealer will replace the faulty rearview camera with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Santa Fe, Santa Fe HEV, Elantra, Elantra HEV and 2022 Elantra N and Santa Fe PHEV vehicles. Due to a damaged printed circuit board, the rearview camera image may fail to display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
