What Happened
The infotainment system in your vehicle includes a touch screen that shows your rearview camera. However, in certain 2021-2022 models, this screen might not work properly if the infotainment unit gets damaged when you turn off your engine.
Risk if Unfixed
If the screen doesn't work when you start driving, you'll be missing a crucial view behind your vehicle. This could make it harder to see pedestrians, other cars, or road hazards, increasing the risk of a collision.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the infotainment unit with a new one that won't damage easily, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice in the mail.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2021-2022 AUDI A8, A6 Allroad, E-TRON Quattro, 2022 S3, RSQ8, RS7, RS6 Avant, Q8, Q7, Q3, E-TRON Sportback Quattro, S5 Cabriolet, E-TRON GT, S5 Sportback, A7, A6, A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet, A4, A4 Allroad, A3, S8, SQ7, SQ8, S6, and S4 vehicles. The infotainment main unit may become damaged internally when the vehicle is shut off, resulting in an inoperative rearview camera display the next time the vehicle is started. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

What Happened
The rearview camera system in your vehicle uses a camera to provide a view behind your car. In some 2019-2026 models, a software glitch may prevent this camera image from showing up on your screen.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rearview image doesn't display, you'll have a blind spot behind your car, making it harder to spot pedestrians, bicycles, or other vehicles. This could lead to a collision.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will update the software to fix the issue for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

The rearview camera system in your vehicle uses a camera to show you what's behind your car when you're reversing. In some 2021 and 2022 Audi models, a software glitch might stop the camera from displaying an image at first, when you start reversing.

If the camera doesn't show you what's behind your car, you might not see important things like pedestrians or obstacles, which could increase your risk of a crash.
