Component

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM)

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) is like the brain of your engine, controlling how it runs. In some 2017-2019 Rogue Hybrid models, the bracket that holds this module could rub against the engine harness, damaging it.
Risk if Unfixed
If the harness gets damaged, a fuse could blow, causing your engine to shut down while driving. This could make it harder to control your vehicle and increase the chance of a collision.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will install a protective cover on the engine harness, so the ECM bracket can't damage it. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:ANTI-THEFT:IMMOBILIZER/PROXIMITY:KEY/SENDER

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The jackknife key in your Rogue or Rogue Sport is a special key with a foldable design. In certain models from 2014-2020 and 2017-2022, this key can fold up while driving.
Risk if Unfixed
If the key folds up while you're driving and touches the ignition, it could turn off the engine unexpectedly. This could make it hard to control your vehicle, and in a crash, your airbags might not deploy as they should, which could increase the risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will add a small spacer to the key slot at no charge to you. This will prevent the key from folding up and shutting off your engine unexpectedly. You should schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice.
