TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS

Manufacturer
NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
Your vehicle's tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) wasn't turned on when it was built, which means it won't alert you if your tires are underinflated.
Risk if Unfixed
If your tires are underinflated, you might not know, which can cause a tire to overheat and potentially blow out, leading to a crash.
Free Fix
Don't worry, this is a free fix! The dealer will turn on your TPMS, so you'll get the warning you need to keep your tires safe.

Original — What Happened
NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 MURANO AND ROGUE VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 23, 2011 THROUGH JANUARY 11, 2012. DURING ASSEMBLY, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) WAS NOT ACTIVATED. THUS, THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 138,”TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM.”
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A NON-ACTIVE TPMS CANNOT WARN A DRIVER THAT A TIRE IS UNDERINFLATED. UNDERINFLATED TIRES CAN RESULT IN TIRE OVERLOADING AND OVERHEATING, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A BLOWOUT AND POSSIBLE CRASH.
Original — Remedy
ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE STILL IN DEALER INVENTORY. DEALERS HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO ACTIVATE ALL OF THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS.

Risk if Unfixed
If the electrical short happens, it could cause a fire in your vehicle. This is a serious safety risk, especially if you're driving or parked in a garage.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will inspect the electrical connector and replace it with a new one, including a waterproof seal, at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
