STEERING:GEAR BOX:SHAFT PITMAN

Manufacturer
NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
The pitman shaft in your vehicle is a crucial part of the steering system, connecting the steering wheel to the front wheels. Over time, a small screw in the steering gear housing cover might loosen and fall out.
Risk if Unfixed
If the screw comes out, you might experience reduced steering response, making it harder to control your vehicle, especially with strong turns. If the pinion shaft comes out, you'll lose all steering control, which could lead to a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will inspect and tighten the steering gear cover screw, and install a protective cover plate to prevent the screw from coming out. This repair is free of charge, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.
