Original — What Happened
NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 ROGUE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 17, 2010, THROUGH OCTOBER 30, 2010. THE CIRCUIT BOARD MAY NOT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IN THE CORRECT POSITION ON CERTAIN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ASSIST CONTROL UNITS. THIS MAY CAUSE ADDITIONAL STRESS ON THE SOLDER OF THE TERMINAL TO THE CIRCUIT BOARD RESULTING IN THE SOLDER CRACKING AND SEPARATING COMPLETELY FROM THE CIRCUIT BOARD.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
AS THE CIRCUIT BOARD FAILS, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FEATURE WILL STOP FUNCTIONING, INCREASING THE FORCE NEEDED TO STEER THE VEHICLE AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
NISSAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE EPS CONTROL UNIT IF NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING DECEMBER 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The electrical harness in your Rogue is a crucial system that helps power your vehicle's electronics. In some 2008-2013 and 2014 models, water and salt can seep into the wiring near the driver's side floor, causing a short circuit.
Risk if Unfixed
If a short circuit happens, it could cause a fire in your vehicle. This is a serious safety risk, and you should take immediate action to address this issue.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will inspect the wiring harness connector and replace it if necessary, as well as install a waterproof seal to prevent future damage. This repair is completely free, and you should contact your dealer to schedule the fix as soon as you receive the recall notice.
