SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS

Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The brake hoses in your Fusion or Lincoln MKZ are like the tubes that carry brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brake calipers. In certain 2013-2018 models, these hoses could burst and leak brake fluid.
Risk if Unfixed
If the brake hoses rupture, you'll notice your brake pedal feels spongy when you press it, and it may take longer to stop the vehicle. This could lead to a longer stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the faulty brake hoses with new ones – at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGES

Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
There's a problem with the brake pedal part on your vehicle. It's called the brake pedal bumper, and it can corrode and separate from the brake pedal if your car is exposed to high temperatures, high humidity, or salt air in certain areas like Texas, Louisiana, etc.
Risk if Unfixed
If the brake pedal bumper separates, it can cause the brake lights to stay on all the time, which can confuse other drivers, and it can also make it possible for your car to roll away if you're not careful, which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Free Fix
You should take your vehicle to a Ford dealership, where they will replace the brake pedal bumper and clutch pedal bumper for free. You've already been notified by letter, but if you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and the recall number is 22S02.

What Happened
The electric power steering system in your vehicle helps assist with steering, making it easier to turn the wheels. The bolts that hold the steering gear motor in place might be vulnerable to corrosion from road salt or other contaminants.

Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a protective coating to keep them from corroding in the future. If the bolts are already damaged, they'll install a new steering gear. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
