What Happened
The brake pedal bumper is the part that helps keep your brake pedal connected to the brake pedal arm. It's designed to protect the pedal from damage caused by exposure to extreme environments, like high heat, humidity, or salt.
Risk if Unfixed
If the brake pedal bumper corrodes and breaks off, your brake lights could stay on all the time, confusing other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. On automatic transmission vehicles, you could even accidentally shift into gear without pressing the brake, allowing the car to roll away and potentially harm you or someone else.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the brake pedal and clutch pedal bumpers with new, corrosion-resistant ones – at no cost to you. This fix is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
