SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS

Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The brake hoses in your 2013-2018 Fusion or Lincoln MKZ are like the flexible tubes that carry brake fluid to your front wheels. In some cases, these hoses can burst and leak brake fluid.
Risk if Unfixed
If the front brake hoses rupture, your brake pedal will feel spongy, and it'll take longer to stop your vehicle. This could lead to a collision, especially in emergency situations.
Free Fix
Your dealership will replace the front brake hoses with new, more reliable ones – at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGES

Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The brake pedal bumper is the part that helps keep your brake pedal connected to the brake pedal arm. It's designed to protect the pedal from damage caused by exposure to extreme environments, like high heat, humidity, or salt.
Risk if Unfixed
If the brake pedal bumper corrodes and breaks off, your brake lights could stay on all the time, confusing other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. On automatic transmission vehicles, you could even accidentally shift into gear without pressing the brake, allowing the car to roll away and potentially harm you or someone else.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the brake pedal and clutch pedal bumpers with new, corrosion-resistant ones – at no cost to you. This fix is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 Mustang vehicles originally sold or ever registered, in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Hawaii. Exposure to certain environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, high humidity, and salt air can cause the brake pedal bumper to corrode and separate from the brake pedal.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A separated brake pedal bumper can cause the brake lights to illuminate continuously, causing confusion to other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. On automatic transmission vehicles, a missing brake pedal bumper can allow the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
