What Happened
The electric cooling fan in your vehicle is a part that helps keep your engine cool. In some cases, it can overheat and potentially cause damage to the engine.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, there's a small chance of a fire breaking out in the engine area. This is a serious situation that could put you and others at risk.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty cooling fan with a new one at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS, SOME ELECTRIC COOLING FANS MAY OVERHEAT POTENTIALLY CAUSING HEAT DAMAGE AND, IN RARE INSTANCES, A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COULD OCCUR.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE COOLING FAN. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 29, 2004. CUSTOMERS SHOULD CONTACT VOLVO CARS AT 1-800-458-1552.
