What Happened
Your vehicle's transmission control module may have a software error that can prevent the transmission from shifting down to fourth gear when coasting, which can cause the engine to stall.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your engine may stall, and you may lose control, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Don't worry, this fix is free! Volvo will notify you and their dealers will update the software in your transmission control module at no cost to you, starting from August 10, 2012.

What Happened
The software in your vehicle's engine control module is responsible for managing the fuel cut-off function. In some 2011 S80, S60, XC70, and XC60 models, this software is too sensitive and could shut off your engine unexpectedly.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens while you're driving, your engine could stall suddenly, which increases the risk of a crash. This is a serious situation that could put you and others in danger.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will update the software in your engine control module and transmission control module for free. This repair is covered, and you should schedule it as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

What Happened
The flexible steel cable in your vehicle's front seat belts is a crucial part that connects the seat belt to your seat. Over time, this cable can weaken and break, causing the seat belt to fail to secure you properly in a crash.

If this cable fails, your seat belt won't hold you in place during a crash, which could lead to serious injury.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty seat belt anchor cable for both front seats, free of charge. This repair is a priority, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC (Volvo) is recalling certain 2008-2016 V70 and XC70, 2007-2016 S80, 2011-2018 S60 and V60, 2016-2018 S60 Cross Country, 2014-2020 S60L, 2009-2015 S80L, 2009-2016 XC60 and 2015-2018 V60 Cross Country vehicles. The flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue over time, causing the seat belt to not secure the occupant in the event of a crash.

What Happened
The driver's airbag clockspring connector is a critical part that helps your airbag deploy in a crash. In some 2010-2011 Volvo models, this connector might not work properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash and your airbag doesn't deploy as it should, you're at risk of serious injury – the airbag is designed to help protect you, but it won't do its job if it's not working right.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will fix the issue by adding a metal shim to the clockspring wiring connector, completely free of charge. You should schedule this repair as soon as possible.
