What Happened
The transmission control module in your S80 is a computer that helps your gears shift smoothly. In some 2011-2013 models, this computer might get a software glitch.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your engine RPMs could drop, and your engine might stall while you're driving. This could make it harder to control your vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will update the software in your transmission control module to fix the issue, and this repair will be done at no cost to you.

VOLVO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2013 S80 VEHICLES. A SOFTWARE ERROR MAY PREVENT THE TRANSMISSION FROM DOWNSHIFTING SUCH AS SHIFTING FROM FIFTH TO FOURTH GEAR WHEN COASTING.

What Happened
The seat belt in your vehicle has a flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the seat. Over time, this cable can weaken and break, preventing the seat belt from securing you properly in a crash.
Risk if Unfixed
If the seat belt cable fails, you could be thrown around the cabin or ejected from the vehicle in a crash, increasing the risk of serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty seat belt anchor cable for both front seats, free of charge, as soon as you schedule the repair. You should contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552 to initiate the recall process.

Original — What Happened
Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC (Volvo) is recalling certain 2008-2016 V70 and XC70, 2007-2016 S80, 2011-2018 S60 and V60, 2016-2018 S60 Cross Country, 2014-2020 S60L, 2009-2015 S80L, 2009-2016 XC60 and 2015-2018 V60 Cross Country vehicles. The flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue over time, causing the seat belt to not secure the occupant in the event of a crash.

An unsecured occupant has an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

What Happened
The wiring harness in your car is like a string of lights that carries electrical signals to your safety features. In some 2012 S60, XC60, S80, and XC70 models, the harness wasn't properly attached to the seat frame.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash, the airbags in front and on the sides might not deploy properly or at all, which could increase the risk of serious injury. The lap belt might also not tighten to protect you.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will inspect and secure the seat wiring harness for you, free of charge. They'll make sure it's properly attached to prevent any issues in the future.

VOLVO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 S60, XC60, S80 AND XC70 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 16, 2011, THROUGH OCTOBER 6, 2011. IN THESE VEHICLES, THE WIRE HARNESS UNDER THE FRONT SEATS MAY HAVE NOT BEEN ATTACHED PROPERLY TO THE SEAT FRAME. AS A RESULT, WHEN THE SEATS ARE MOVED TO ADJUST THE SEATING POSITION, THE WIRE HARNESS MAY GET PULLED, CAUSING IT TO DISCONNECT.
