What Happened
The brake hoses in your 2019-2020 Ram 4500 or 5500 Cab Chassis are the flexible tubes that carry brake fluid from the master cylinder to your rear brakes. In some cases, these hoses might be too narrow, which can cause them to burst.
Risk if Unfixed
If a brake hose ruptures while you're driving, you'll lose braking power in the back, making it harder to stop. This could lead to a collision.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the rear brake hoses with new ones, and this repair is completely free. You should schedule the service as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Ram 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles. The rear brake hose inside diameter may be too small, which could cause the hose to rupture. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 106, "Brake Hoses."

What Happened
The flexible line in your RAM 4500/5500's rear brakes is a flexible hose that connects the brake caliper to the brake fluid reservoir. In some cases, this hose was installed in a way that causes it to rub against a suspension component, which can wear it down.

In the affected suspension systems, the rear brake caliper flexible line may have been routed so that it contacts a suspension component, possibly causing excessive wear and a loss of rear brakes.

The flexible brake line in your RAM 4500/5500 is a hose that connects the brake caliper to the master cylinder, allowing the power brake system to work properly. In some 2019-2020 models with Liquid Spring suspension, this line might be rubbing against a suspension part.
