If the software issue isn't fixed, your rear brakes might lock up during hard braking, and you could lose control of your vehicle. This could happen without warning and lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your Chrysler dealer will update the ABS electronic control unit with the latest software, which will fix the problem. This repair is free, and you should contact your dealer as soon as possible to schedule the update.

What Happened
The passenger side airbag in your vehicle is a safety device that deploys in a crash to protect you. However, some of these airbags have a faulty inflator that could rupture and send sharp metal fragments towards you.
Risk if Unfixed
If the airbag inflator ruptures, metal fragments could hit you or your passengers, causing serious injury or even death. This could happen in a crash, and it's a very serious risk.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty airbag inflator with a new one, free of charge. Don't drive your vehicle until the repair is done, and contact your dealer or Chrysler's customer service at 1-800-853-1403 to schedule the fix.

These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. These inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling. An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM owners. Mitsubishi owners will be notified by their company. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Risk if Unfixed
If the floor liner tears, it may move forward and interfere with the accelerator pedal, which could cause your vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly and increase the risk of a crash.
