POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT

Manufacturer
Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
What Happened
The column shift in your vehicle is the part that helps you shift gears with the shift lever. In certain models, the part that keeps your transmission from shifting out of park can get stuck, allowing you to accidentally shift gears without the brake pedal or key.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your vehicle could roll away unexpectedly, even if you're in park. This could cause an injury or accident, especially if you're on an incline or in a crowded area.
Free Fix
Your dealer will update the software and inspect the shift interlock system. If it's faulty, they'll replace it for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.
Original — Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

What Happened
The water pump in your diesel engine is a crucial part that helps keep your engine running smoothly. In some 2013-2017 RAM 2500, 3500, and 4500/5500 vehicles, this pump might not have a small hole that's supposed to let air out, causing it to leak.
Risk if Unfixed
If the water pump starts leaking, it could cause an engine compartment fire, which could spread and cause serious damage or even harm you or others nearby.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty water pump with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, and it's completely free – no cost to you.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Manufacturer
Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
What Happened
The wiring in your vehicle's electrical system is like the veins of a body, carrying signals to and from your car's systems. In some cases, the wiring in your 2014-2019 Dodge, Jeep, or Chrysler vehicle could develop a short circuit, causing problems with the cruise control system.
Risk if Unfixed
If there's a short circuit, you might not be able to turn off the cruise control, even when you press the brake pedal or try to shut it off manually. This means your vehicle could continue going at the same speed or even accelerate, raising the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will update the software in your vehicle's engine or powertrain control module with the latest version, completely free of charge. You should schedule this update as soon as possible, and until then, avoid using cruise control. If you do encounter a problem, firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift into neutral, then park when it's safe to do so.
