What Happened
The wiring system in your vehicle is like the nervous system of your car. It carries important signals between your engine, transmission, and other components. In some 2014-2019 models, a short circuit in the wiring could prevent your cruise control from shutting off.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you might be unable to turn off the cruise control, even when you step on the brakes or try to shut it off manually. The vehicle could continue going at its current speed or even accelerate, increasing the risk of a crash.
How to Get This Fixed
Free Fix
Your Chrysler dealer will update the software in your engine or powertrain control module for free. They'll do this by flashing the new software, which should only take a few minutes. Until then, you should stop using cruise control and know what to do if you encounter this issue: firmly press the brakes and shift into neutral, then park your vehicle once it's stopped.
