STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS

Manufacturer
Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
What Happened
The power steering system in your Dodge Journey uses a hose to help you steer easily. This hose is like a flexible tube that connects the power steering pump to the steering gear. In some 2009-2016 models, this hose can burst when it's exposed to cold temperatures.
Risk if Unfixed
If the power steering hose ruptures, you'll lose power steering assist while driving, especially at low speeds. This means it'll be harder to steer, and you may need to use more force, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Chrysler dealer will replace the faulty hose, steel tubes, and power steering oil cooler with new ones – all for free. You'll need to schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Manufacturer
Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
What Happened
The wiring in your vehicle is like the nervous system of your car, and it needs to be updated to prevent a problem with the cruise control system. In certain models, the wiring can cause a short circuit that keeps the cruise control going even when you try to turn it off.

Free Fix
Your dealer will update the software in your vehicle's engine or powertrain control module at no cost to you. In the meantime, if you experience this issue, press the brake pedal firmly and steadily, shift into neutral, and put the vehicle in park when it stops.
