Component

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:ANTI-THEFT:IMMOBILIZER/PROXIMITY:KEY/SENDER

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The jackknife key in your Rogue or Rogue Sport is a special type of key that can fold up when not in use. In some 2014-2022 models, this key might fold up while you're driving.
Risk if Unfixed
If the key folds up while driving, you might accidentally shut off your engine, losing power steering and power brakes. If that happens, your airbags might not deploy properly in a crash, which could increase the risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will insert a small spacer into the key slot to prevent the key from folding up, and this repair is completely free.

Original — What Happened
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Rogue and 2017-2022 Rogue Sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.

Dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed March 29, 2023. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened

Risk if Unfixed
If the connector corrodes, you could experience problems like stuck windows, a warning light on your dashboard, or even a dead battery. In the worst case, the corrosion could cause a fire, which is a serious safety risk.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will fix the issue for free by replacing the corroded connectors and applying special grease to prevent future problems. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get your recall notice.
