Component
STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE:SUPPORT DEVICE/STRUT
Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The rear lift gate support stays in your Rogue help hold the hatch open. Over time, these metal components can corrode and weaken, especially if exposed to salt or moisture, which can be common in certain areas.
Risk if Unfixed
If the corrosion gets bad enough, the support stays could break, causing the hatch to fall open unexpectedly. This could lead to injuries from the falling hatch or other objects being knocked over.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will replace the corroded support stays with new ones, free of charge. You should schedule this repair as soon as possible to avoid any potential harm.

Original — Remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear tailgate stays, free of charge. The recall began on November 18, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
