What Happened
The defroster and defogger system in your Jeep Wrangler or Grand Cherokee helps clear your windshield during winter or rainy conditions. But in certain 2021-2024 models, a software glitch can shut it down completely.
Risk if Unfixed
If the defroster and defogger aren't working, you might struggle to see the road clearly. This could increase your risk of getting into an accident, especially in bad weather.
Free Fix
Your authorized Jeep dealer will update the software controlling the defroster and defogger system, and this repair is completely free. You'll get a recall notice with instructions on how to schedule the update.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Jeep Wrangler and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. A hybrid control processor (HCP) software error may cause the defrosting and defogging system to be inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems."

Dealers will update the HCP software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 29, 2024. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 04B.
