ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:BELTS AND ASSOCIATED PULLEYS

Manufacturer
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
What Happened
The drive belt automatic tensioner is a part in your engine that keeps your accessory belt tight. In certain 2008-2012 Outlander, 2009-2012 Lancer, and 2010-2012 Lancer Sportback models with specific engines, this part can crack and fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the tensioner fails, your accessory belt will come loose and detach, causing your engine to stall and your battery to drain. This could leave you stranded, and if you're on the road, it could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealer will swap out the faulty tensioner for a stronger one at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair when you get the recall notice, which is expected to start on March 27, 2018.

Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealer will replace the worn-out drive belt with a new rubber one, and fix or replace any excessively worn pulleys, all at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS

Manufacturer
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
What Happened
The power steering system in your Outlander is made up of several parts, including a hose that sends pressure to your steering wheel. In some 2013 and 2007-2012 Outlander models, this hose isn't properly cleared, which could cause it to leak power steering fluid.
Risk if Unfixed
If the power steering fluid leaks out, you'll lose the assistance that helps you steer the vehicle. This could make it harder to control the car, especially at slow speeds, which increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealer will replace the faulty hose and another tube for you, at no cost. Just schedule a visit once you receive the recall notice.
