PARKING BRAKE

Manufacturer
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
What Happened
Your Outlander's parking brake is a crucial safety feature that helps hold your vehicle in place when you're parked on an incline. In some 2013-2016 models, water can seep into the brake calipers and cause the parking brake actuator shafts to corrode.
Risk if Unfixed
If the parking brake actuator shafts corrode and bind, your parking brake might not work properly. This means your vehicle could roll away if you park on a slope, and you could lose control, increasing the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealership will inspect the brake calipers, replace the parking brake boot and lever or the brake caliper body as needed, and replace the piston assembly of the rear brake caliper. All of this will be done free of charge, so don't hesitate to schedule the repair when you get the recall notice.

Original — Remedy
MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear brake calipers and replace the parking brake boot and lever or the brake caliper body, as necessary. SEAT BELTS: REAR/OTHER:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY

Manufacturer
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
What Happened
Your Outlander's second-row center seat belt buckle is the part that keeps you safe in the back seat. In some 2014-2019 models, this buckle can get in the way of the right-side buckle when the seats are folded down.
Risk if Unfixed
If the buckle cover comes loose, the buckle won't work properly and you might not be restrained in a crash. This could cause serious injury.
Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealer will fix this by re-designing the buckle cover, adding a new warning label under your back seat, and including a new warning in your owner's manual – all at no cost to you.
