What Happened
The liftgate support system on your Outlander is made up of gas springs that help hold the hatchback up when you open or close it. In certain models and regions, these springs can corrode and lose pressure over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If the gas springs fail, the liftgate could drop suddenly, which can cause injury. You could be hurt by the falling liftgate or objects that are in the way.
Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealer will replace the liftgate gas springs for you, at no cost. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice and take care of it.
