What Happened
A critical hose in your Outlander's power steering system could be damaged and leak fluid. This hose is the part that carries power steering fluid from the pump to the steering gear.
Risk if Unfixed
If the hose leaks, you could lose power steering assistance, making it harder to steer your vehicle. This could increase the risk of a crash, especially at low speeds or in tight spaces.
Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealer will replace the faulty hose and return tube with new ones, all at no cost to you. This repair should be done as soon as possible to ensure your vehicle's safety.

Original — What Happened
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (Mitsubishi) is recalling certain model year 2013 Outlander vehicles equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, Mitusbishi is recalling certain 2007-2012 Outlander vehicles that received replacement 6-speed automatic transmissions during servicing. The transmissions in these vehicles have insufficient clearance between the power steering pressure tube and the converter housing of the automatic transmission. As a result of the contact, the power steering pressure tube may develop a hole and leak power steering fluid.

A power steering fluid leak could result in a loss of steering assistance, increasing the risk of a crash.

The front lower control arm in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps your car stay stable while driving. Over time, the metal can corrode from exposure to salt water on the roads, especially in certain areas.

(MMNA) is recalling certain model year 2002-2007 Lancer, 2004 Lancer Wagon, 2003-2006 Lancer Evolution, 2003-2006 Outlander and 2007-2013 Outlander V-6 vehicles originally sold in, or ever registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may detach due to the front cross member corroding from salt water exposure such as from road salt use.

Depending on the level of existing corrosion, either a sealing/anti-corrosion agent will be applied or the front cross member will be replaced with a new one that has a sealing/anti-corrosion agent applied to it. What Happened
The wiper motor in your Outlander is the part that powers your windshield wipers. Water can seep into the motor through a small gap between the hood and windshield and cause corrosion, leading to a potential failure.
Risk if Unfixed
If the wiper motor fails, your windshield wipers won't work, and you'll lose visibility in rainy or snowy conditions, which could increase the chance of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty wiper motor with a new one, free of charge. You'll get a notification when it's time to schedule the repair.

What Happened
The front wiper link is a small metal piece that helps your windshield wipers move back and forth. In older Outlanders, water can seep between the hood and windshield and corrode this link, causing it to break and leave you without wipers while driving.

If your wipers stop working, you'll have reduced visibility and a higher risk of crashing, especially in heavy rain or snow.
Free Fix
Your Mitsubishi dealer will seal the wiper link from water with a new rubber boot and inspect the wiper motor arm for any play, replacing it if needed – all at no cost to you.

In the affected vehicles, water may enter between the hood and windshield and cause the front wiper link ball joint to corrode, possibly resulting in the wiper link separating and the wipers becoming inoperative.
