VISIBILITY Safety Recalls

Moderate #24V111000 Plain English
Component

VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM

Manufacturer
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)
What Happened
The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system in your Wrangler or Grand Cherokee is responsible for keeping your windshield clear. A software glitch in your vehicle could cause the defroster and defogger to stop working.
Risk if Unfixed
If the defroster and defogger aren't working, your windshield could fog up or freeze, reducing your visibility while driving. This could make it harder to see the road and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized Jeep dealer will update the software controlling the HVAC system, and the repair is completely free. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems."
Original — Risk if Unfixed
An inoperative windshield defrosting and defogging system may decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will update the HCP software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 29, 2024. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 04B.
