What Happened
Your vehicle may have a problem with the manual transmission gear position sensor, which could affect the rearview camera and reverse lights.
Risk if Unfixed
If this isn't fixed, you could lose visibility of the area behind your vehicle while driving in reverse, which could lead to a crash or injury.
Free Fix
The dealership will replace the gear position sensor for free, and you should have already received a notification letter.
Show original NHTSA language
Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US), LLC is recalling certain 2022-2023 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles equipped with a manual transmission. The rearview camera may fail to display the rearview image and the reverse lights may not illuminate when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A disabled rearview image can decrease the driver's visibility of the rear view, and disabled reverse lights may not alert others that the vehicle is reversing, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the gear position sensor, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 16, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 92A.

Component

POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

Manufacturer
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)
What Happened
The clutch assembly is a critical part in your manual transmission, acting as the 'button' that connects and disconnects the engine from your wheels. In some 2018-2023 Jeep Wrangler and 2020-2023 Jeep Gladiator models, this clutch pressure plate can overheat and break.
Risk if Unfixed
If the clutch pressure plate overheats and breaks, it could cause a fire or damage other nearby components, leading to debris falling onto the road or a loss of control, which increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Jeep dealer will replace the faulty clutch assembly and update the software for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, and if you've already had this issue fixed under a previous recall, you'll need to have it done again.
