What Happened
The recliner mechanism in the middle and back seats of your Highlander is responsible for making sure the seats stay upright when you recline them. In some 2021-2024 models, this mechanism might not lock the seat in place properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the seat back doesn't lock, it might not keep you safely seated during a crash, which could lead to injury.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will replace the return springs in the seat recliner assemblies with new ones, and you won't be charged for this repair. You'll receive a follow-up letter once the final fix is ready, but you can also contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331 for more information.
