Component

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:MASTER CYLINDER

Manufacturer
TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
The brake master cylinder is a crucial part that helps control your brakes. In certain 2004-2006 Toyota and Lexus models, a specific type of brake fluid can cause the rubber seal at the back of the master cylinder to dry out and potentially curl.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, a small amount of brake fluid could leak into the brake booster, changing the feel of your brake pedal and eventually affecting your braking performance. This could make it harder to stop your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty seal with a new one, free of charge. Schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.

BRAKE FLUID CONTAINING POLYMERS IS USED THAT ACTS AS LUBRICANTS FOR CERTAIN BRAKE SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
