What Happened
Your vehicle has a system of fuel hoses and pipes that deliver gasoline to the engine. One of these hoses, located in the engine compartment, might be prone to cracking.
Risk if Unfixed
If this hose cracks and you're near an ignition source like a spark plug or hot engine part, fuel could leak out and catch fire, which is a serious safety risk.
Free Fix
Toyota will replace the faulty fuel delivery pipe for you, free of charge, as soon as you schedule the repair at your local dealership.

Original — What Happened
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2014 Toyota Avalon, Camry, Sienna, and Highlander and model year 2015 Lexus RX350 vehicles. Fuel may leak from the one of the fuel delivery pipes in the engine compartment.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Original — Remedy
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace any of the suspect fuel delivery pipes free of charge. The recall began November 17, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

What Happened
The middle seat belt in the back of your Highlander might not be securely attached to the floor. This is because it wasn't properly attached during assembly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the seat belt isn't securely attached, it could fail in a crash, putting you at greater risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will inspect the seat belt and make sure it's securely attached to the floor, at no cost to you. You'll get a notification in March 2014, and you should schedule the repair as soon as you can.

Original — What Happened
Toyota is recalling certain model year 2014 Highlander vehicles manufactured November 20, 2013, through January 18, 2014. The third row middle seat belt assembly might not have been properly secured to the vehicle floor anchorage during vehicle assembly. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

A seat belt that is not properly secured to its anchorage could increase the risk of injury to an occupant in the event of a crash.

What Happened
Your windshield has a wire harness attached to it. In some aftermarket windshields sold for your 2014-2018 Toyota Highlander, water can seep into this harness and damage your Engine Control Module.
Risk if Unfixed
If the ECM gets damaged, your engine could stall suddenly while driving, which could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your service center will replace the faulty windshield and inspect the ECM for damage. If the ECM is damaged, they'll replace it too, all at no cost to you.

Fujian Wanda Automobile Glass Industry (Wanda) is recalling certain aftermarket Replacement Windshields sold for use in 2014-2018 Toyota Highlander vehicles. The windshields have an attached wire harness that water may leak into, possibly causing damage to the vehicle's Engine Control Module (ECM).

The ECM damage may result in the engine stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.

What Happened
The software in your Highlander's airbag system controls the front passenger seatbelt. In some 2014 models, this software might be set to use a safety setting meant for smaller people, which could be too weak for larger passengers.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash, a larger passenger in the front seat might not be properly secured by the seatbelt, increasing the risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will update the airbag software to use the correct safety settings, free of charge. You should schedule this update as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2014 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles may have improper software installed in the air bag electronic control unit (ECU) for the operation of the front passenger seat belt force limiter, and as a result, the force limiter may use the restraint setting designed for small occupants, such as those that weigh approximately 110 pounds, for all occupants regardless of their size. As such, some of these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

In the event of a crash, a larger front passenger seat occupant may not be properly restrained and be at an increased risk of injury.

What Happened
The second row seat in your Highlander has a part that connects it to the floor. In some 2014 models, this part didn't attach properly, which could cause the seat to shift while driving.

If this happens, the seat could move around in the event of a crash, putting the person sitting there at risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will check the seat and replace it if needed, all for free. You'll get a notice in the mail with instructions on when to schedule the repair.

The affected vehicles may have a second row right-hand seat assembly that does not fully lock into the inboard seat track in the forward first, second and third adjusting positions. As such, these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems."
