What Happened
The software in your Highlander's airbag system controls the front passenger seatbelt. In some 2014 models, this software might be set to use a safety setting meant for smaller people, which could be too weak for larger passengers.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash, a larger passenger in the front seat might not be properly secured by the seatbelt, increasing the risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will update the airbag software to use the correct safety settings, free of charge. You should schedule this update as soon as you get the recall notice.
