What Happened
The defroster and defogger system in your Jeep is controlled by a computer chip that helps clear your windshield. Sometimes, this chip can malfunction and prevent the system from working properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the defroster and defogger system fails, you'll have reduced visibility when driving, especially in cold or rainy conditions. This increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will update the computer software controlling the defroster and defogger system for you, at no cost. You should have already received a recall notice, but if you haven't, you can contact Jeep customer service to verify the status of your vehicle.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Jeep Wrangler and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. A hybrid control processor (HCP) software error may cause the defrosting and defogging system to be inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems."
