What Happened
Your Jeep's fuel pump is a crucial part that sends gasoline to the engine. Some aftermarket fuel pumps, installed on certain 1997-2004 Wrangler, 1997-2001 Cherokee, 1997-2004 Grand Cherokee, and 2000-2003 Dakota models, have a faulty electrical connector that can break down over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If the connector fails, fuel can leak and ignite, causing a fire. This could happen if you're filling up, driving, or even standing near the vehicle.
Free Fix
Airtex will replace the faulty fuel pump at no cost to you. They'll notify you and provide the free repair, so be on the lookout for their contact and schedule the fix when you get the notice.

Original — What Happened
CERTAIN AFTERMARKET AIRTEX ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS INSTALLED FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR CERTAIN 1997-2004 JEEP WRANGLER; 1997-2001 JEEP CHEROKEE; 1997-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE; AND 2000-2003 DODGE DAKOTA VEHICLES. THE PLASTIC ELECTRICAL GROMMET CONNECTORS AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP MODULE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH AUTOMOTIVE FUELS AND MAY DEGRADE CAUSING A POTENTIAL LEAK PATH FOR FUEL.

What Happened
The intake and exhaust manifolds on your vehicle are like two pipes that carry air and exhaust gases in and out of your engine. On certain 4.0L engine models, there's a small spot where debris can get stuck.
Risk if Unfixed
If debris accumulates in this spot, it could cause a fire while you're driving, which is a serious and potentially catastrophic situation.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will install a special shield to prevent debris from building up and causing a fire. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as possible after receiving the recall notice.
