Component
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The fuel tank in your Z4 or Supra is the part that stores gasoline. In some 2020-2021 models, the way it's held together might not be strong enough, which could cause it to crack or leak.
Risk if Unfixed
If the fuel tank leaks, it could spill gasoline onto a hot engine or other heat source, causing a fire. This is a serious safety risk, especially if you're driving and can't get out of the vehicle quickly.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the fuel tank with a new one that's designed to be safer, completely free of charge. Just schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice.
