FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

Manufacturer
BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE
What Happened
The fuel pump in your vehicle is the part that sends gasoline from the tank to your engine. Under certain conditions, it could get a vapor lock, like a clog, which would make your engine stall.
Risk if Unfixed
If the engine stalls, you won't be able to control your speed or accelerate for about 15-20 minutes. This could make you more likely to be in a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will add a small device to the electrical system that powers your fuel pump to prevent vapor lock. This repair is free, and you should contact the dealer to schedule it.
Show original NHTSA language
Original — What Happened

Original — Risk if Unfixed
IF STALLING WERE TO OCCUR, THE DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE SPEED OR ACCELERATE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A RESISTOR IN THE ELECTRICAL LINE POWERING THE FUEL PUMP IN ORDER TO PREVENT AN OCCURRENCE OF VAPOR LOCK. THE RECALL BEGAN MAY 11, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT BMW AT 1-800-831-1117.

Your vehicle has 18-inch tires that were mounted to the rim, but there's a chance they got damaged during the process.
Risk if Unfixed
If the tire is damaged, it could lose air pressure or even fail while you're driving, which could lead to a crash, especially in heavy traffic or if you're not able to react quickly.

SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY

Manufacturer
BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE
What Happened
The front seat belt buckle in your vehicle is the part that connects to the steel rope of the tensioner, which helps keep you safe in a crash. Unfortunately, in some 2003 models, this connection doesn't meet BMW's safety standards.
Risk if Unfixed
If the connection fails in a severe frontal crash, the protection provided by your seat belt might not work properly, which could lead to serious injuries to you or your front passenger.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will inspect and replace the front safety belt tensioner and buckle assemblies if necessary, at no cost to you. You should schedule the service as soon as you get the recall notice, and if you experience any delays, contact BMW at 1-800-831-1117.
Show original NHTSA language

Original — Risk if Unfixed

Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT BOTH FRONT SAFETY BELT TENSIONER AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES, AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THESE PARTS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 19, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT BMW AT 1-800-831-1117.
