Component
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:PUMP
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The water pump in your car helps keep your engine cool by circulating coolant. In some 2012-2018 models, a connector on this pump might not seal properly, letting water in and causing a short circuit.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, there's a risk of a fire starting in your engine compartment. This is a serious situation that could cause significant damage or even injury.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will check the water pump and fix any issues, replace it if needed, and install a protective shield to prevent this problem in the future. This repair is completely free, and you should contact your dealer to schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
