VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The power windows and sunroof in your vehicle are controlled by a computer system that responds to your key fob. In some 2022-2023 models, this system can get confused and let you close the windows or sunroof even when you're not using your key.
Risk if Unfixed
If you accidentally close the windows or sunroof without the key present, it could cause injury to people inside the vehicle. This is especially concerning because you won't have power steering or power brakes to help you control the vehicle.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will update the computer system that controls your power windows and sunroof, and this service is free. They'll also temporarily disable the digital key function until the update is complete. You'll get a recall notice in the mail around April 11, 2023, but you can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule the repair sooner if you prefer.
