What Happened
The engine control unit in your Audi is like the brain of your engine, controlling how it runs. It contains a tiny semiconductor that could fail and cause problems.
Risk if Unfixed
If this semiconductor shorts out, your engine could stall while you're driving. This could make it hard to control your vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the faulty engine control unit with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022 Audi A6 Sedan, A4 Sedan, Q5, and Q5 Sportback vehicles. The semiconductor inside the engine control unit may short-circuit and cause an engine stall.

An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

What Happened
The infotainment system in your vehicle has a touch screen that shows you what's behind you. In certain 2021-2022 Audi models, the main computer that controls this display can get damaged when you turn off the car, causing it to fail when you start up again.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rearview camera display doesn't work, you'll have a blind spot when backing up, increasing the risk of a crash or collision.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the main infotainment computer with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

(Audi) is recalling certain 2021-2022 AUDI A8, A6 Allroad, E-TRON Quattro, 2022 S3, RSQ8, RS7, RS6 Avant, Q8, Q7, Q3, E-TRON Sportback Quattro, S5 Cabriolet, E-TRON GT, S5 Sportback, A7, A6, A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet, A4, A4 Allroad, A3, S8, SQ7, SQ8, S6, and S4 vehicles. The infotainment main unit may become damaged internally when the vehicle is shut off, resulting in an inoperative rearview camera display the next time the vehicle is started. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Your Audi's rearview camera system is a critical safety feature that shows you what's behind your vehicle when you're reversing. But in some 2021-2022 Audi models, a software glitch might prevent the camera image from showing up when you start reversing.

If the camera doesn't display an image, you'll have a reduced view of what's behind your car, which could lead to a crash or accident.
