ENGINE Safety Recalls

Critical #21V598000 Plain English
Component

ENGINE

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
Your vehicle's engine management system is responsible for controlling the performance of your engine. In certain 2020-2021 BMW models, this system could malfunction and disable the electronic braking assist feature.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you'll lose the electronic assistance that helps you stop your vehicle smoothly. You'll still have full mechanical braking available, but it could be more difficult to stop, especially on slippery roads or in emergency situations.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the engine management software to fix the issue, and this repair is completely free. You should schedule the update as soon as you receive the recall notice.
