STEERING:STEERING CONTROL MODULE

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The steering control module in your X3 is a computer that helps guide your steering wheel. In some 2025-2026 models, this module can cause your steering wheel to move unexpectedly while the vehicle is parked.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens while you're parked, you could get injured by an unexpected steering wheel movement. On the road, it could cause you to lose control of your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the steering system software to prevent this issue, and it's completely free. You can either get the update done at a dealer or have it done over-the-air, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
