STEERING:STEERING CONTROL MODULE

What Happened
The steering control module in your X3 is a computer that helps guide your steering wheel. In some 2025-2026 models, this module can cause your steering wheel to move unexpectedly while the vehicle is parked.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens while you're parked, you could get injured by an unexpected steering wheel movement. On the road, it could cause you to lose control of your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the steering system software to prevent this issue, and it's completely free. You can either get the update done at a dealer or have it done over-the-air, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2025-2026 X3 vehicles. While the vehicle is stationary, unexpected steering wheel movement (rotation) may occur.

The steering system software will be updated, free of charge, either over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer. Owner notification letters were mailed February 6, 2026. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC

What Happened
The front brake discs in your X3 are the metal plates that help your brakes stop the vehicle. In some 2025 X3 30 xDrive models, these discs may have gotten damaged during shipping before they were installed on your car.
Risk if Unfixed
If the damaged brake discs aren't fixed, they could fail to stop your vehicle properly. This could lead to a crash, especially when you're driving at high speeds or in heavy traffic.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will swap out the damaged brake discs and brake pads for new ones – all for free. You'll receive a notification letter on June 6, 2025, with instructions on how to schedule the repair.

The brake hoses in your X3 are the tubes that carry brake fluid from the master cylinder to the rear brakes. In some 2025 X3 and X3 M50 models, these hoses might start to leak, affecting how your car stops.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rear brake hoses leak, your rear brakes could fail, and you might lose control of your vehicle, especially on wet or slippery roads. This increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the brake hoses with new ones, completely free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

The starter assembly in your vehicle is responsible for starting your engine. In your 2025 BMW, the electrical connection between the starter-generator and battery might not be secure.

The positive battery cable in your 2025 X3 is what connects your battery to the starter-generator. In some cases, it might not be securely attached, which could cause it to overheat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the connection overheats, your engine could stall while you're driving, making it hard to control your vehicle and increasing the risk of a collision. There's also a chance of a fire, which is a serious safety concern.
