What Happened
The head curtain air bag in your X3 helps protect your head in a side crash. In some 2025 models, the air bag may not have been put together correctly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag doesn't deploy properly in a side crash, you could be at risk of serious head injury. The air bag may not work right away or might not work at all.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will check and replace the right-side head curtain air bag if it's not working correctly – it's free, and you should schedule it as soon as possible. You can also contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 for more information.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2025 X3 30 xDrive vehicles. The gas generator in the right-side head curtain air bag may have been assembled incorrectly.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
An incorrectly assembled air bag can result in delayed activation or improper deployment of the head curtain air bag, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the right-side head curtain air bag, if necessary, free of charge. The vehicles have not been sold from dealer inventory and therefore no owner letters will be mailed. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
