What Happened
The water pump in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps keep your engine cool. In some 2012-2018 models, the electrical connector on this pump isn't sealed properly, which could let water in.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, the water could cause an electrical short, leading to a fire.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will check the water pump and connector, replace them if needed, and add a protective shield to prevent future issues – all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

An improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump may be exposed to water and short circuit.

What Happened
The EGR cooler in your diesel engine is a component that helps reduce emissions. In some affected 2013-2018 BMW models, it can leak internally, causing a buildup of soot and coolant that could melt the intake manifold.
Risk if Unfixed
If the intake manifold melts, it could catch fire, which could cause a serious injury or damage to your vehicle.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty EGR cooler and inspect the intake manifold, fixing or replacing it if necessary, all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible, and you can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 for more information.

The EGR cooler may leak internally, causing coolant to mix with diesel engine soot, which could result in smoldering particles and a melting intake manifold.

Dealers will replace the EGR cooler and inspect the intake manifold, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. This recall includes all vehicles previously recalled under 18V-755. Vehicles previously recalled under 18V-755 will need to have the new remedy performed for this recall. An interim owner notification letter was mailed on January 18, 2022. What Happened
The high-pressure fuel pump in your vehicle is what delivers diesel fuel to your engine. In some affected 2014-2018 and 2015-2017 BMW models, this pump can fail without warning while you're driving.
Risk if Unfixed
If the pump fails while you're driving, your engine could stall, making it harder to control the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.

Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty high-pressure fuel pump with a new one, at no cost to you. The repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.

The gas recirculation valve in your vehicle helps clean exhaust gases before they're released. It's got a built-in cooler that can leak and mix with soot in your engine.
Risk if Unfixed
If the cooler leaks, the soot could smolder and melt your intake manifold, which could cause a fire. This is a serious risk that could lead to a potentially devastating blaze in your engine compartment.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the EGR cooler and replace it if necessary. If the damage is already done, they'll also replace the intake manifold. These repairs are free of charge, and you should schedule the work as soon as you get the recall notice.

What Happened
The LATCH strap in your vehicle is a metal bar that helps secure your child's car seat. In some 2011-2017 X3 and X4 models, this bar can get damaged when you use a certain type of car seat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the LATCH strap is damaged, your child's car seat might not stay securely attached in a crash, increasing the risk of injury to your child.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will weld a reinforcing bracket to the LATCH strap and the vehicle body to prevent damage, and this repair is completely free. You'll receive a notice from BMW with instructions on how to schedule the repair.

The affected vehicles have lower anchor bars for securing child restraint seats that may become damaged when using the European-ISOFIX-type, rigid-style connector, child restraint system.
