What Happened
The driver's air bag in your Enclave or Traverse is designed to protect you in a crash. However, the inflator that makes the air bag deploy could malfunction and explode.
Risk if Unfixed
If the inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments could fly towards you and the passengers, causing serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty air bag module with a new, safer one, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety.

Original — What Happened
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2008-2017 Buick Enclave and 2013-2017 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.

Dealers will replace the driver's air bag module, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on November 3, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 10, 2022. What Happened
The side curtain air bags in your vehicle are designed to protect you and your passengers in the event of a rollover or side impact. However, in certain 2010-2015, 2017 Buick Enclave, 2010-2019 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2011-2016 GMC Acadia models, these air bags may not be properly attached.

If the air bags aren't secure, they might not deploy as intended in a crash, which could lead to serious injury.

What Happened
The flexible steel cable in your vehicle's front seatbelts could break over time. This cable connects the seatbelt to your seat, so if it fails, your seatbelt might not work properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the cable breaks, your seatbelt may not keep you safe in a crash, which could lead to serious injury.

Your dealership will inspect your seatbelt and replace the lap pretensioner if necessary, all for free. Original — What Happened
General Motors is recalling certain model year 2009-2014 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through May 14, 2014, Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured June 6, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured April 9, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through March 18, 2010. In the affected vehicles, the flexible steel cable that connects the seatbelt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue and separate over time.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
If the steel cable becomes fatigued and separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant increasing the risk of an injury in a crash.
Original — Remedy
General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair and replace the lap pretensioner, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim notice will be mailed to owners in July 2014. A second notice will be mailed to owners once parts become available. The recall for the 2009-2010 model years began on July 11, 2014. The interim letter for the 2011-2014 model years were distributed on July 11, 2014. In the affected vehicles, increased resistance in the driver and passenger seat mounted side impact air bag (SIAB) wiring harnesses may result in the SIAB and seat belt pretensioners not deploying in the event of a crash.

What Happened
The wiper linkages in your 2011-2012 Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, or GMC Acadia are the parts that connect your windshield wipers to the wiper arms. In certain conditions, snow or ice can build up and make the wiper arm loosen, causing the wiper to stop working.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your windshield wiper may stop working, reducing your visibility while driving, especially in snowy or icy conditions. This could increase the risk of a crash.

Risk if Unfixed
If the liftgate's strut fails, it could drop suddenly while you're nearby, hitting you and causing injury.

Your dealer will update the software for your power liftgate actuator motor control unit, which will prevent the liftgate from closing too fast. This fix is free, and you'll be notified when it's time to schedule the repair.

The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall.
