What Happened
The driver's air bag in your Enclave or Traverse is a critical safety system that deploys in a crash to protect you. Unfortunately, in some 2008-2017 models, the air bag inflator might explode during deployment.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag inflator explodes, it could send sharp metal fragments flying towards you or other passengers, causing serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your dealership will replace the faulty air bag module with a new one, at no cost to you. This is a free repair, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.

Original — What Happened
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2008-2017 Buick Enclave and 2013-2017 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.

What Happened
The side curtain airbags in your vehicle are safety nets that deploy in a rollover or side impact. In some 2010-2015 and 2017 Buick Enclave, 2010-2019 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2011-2016 GMC Acadia models, these airbags might not be securely attached.

If the side curtain airbags aren't properly attached, they might not work as intended in a rollover or side crash, increasing your risk of serious injury.

What Happened
The flexible steel cable in the seatbelt of your Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, or Saturn Outlook is a critical part that keeps you safe in a crash. Over time, it can weaken and break, making your seatbelt less effective.
Risk if Unfixed
If the steel cable snaps, your seatbelt won't restrain you properly in a crash, which could lead to serious injury or even worse.
Free Fix
Your dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the lap pretensioner in your seatbelt, free of charge. You'll get a notification letter in July, and once the parts are available, you'll get another letter to schedule the repair.

General Motors is recalling certain model year 2009-2014 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through May 14, 2014, Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured June 6, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured April 9, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through March 18, 2010. In the affected vehicles, the flexible steel cable that connects the seatbelt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue and separate over time.

If the steel cable becomes fatigued and separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant increasing the risk of an injury in a crash.

General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair and replace the lap pretensioner, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim notice will be mailed to owners in July 2014. A second notice will be mailed to owners once parts become available. The recall for the 2009-2010 model years began on July 11, 2014. The interim letter for the 2011-2014 model years were distributed on July 11, 2014. The side impact air bags and seat belt pretensioners in your vehicle are designed to deploy in a crash to keep you safe. However, in some 2008-2013 Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia, and 2009-2013 Chevrolet Traverse and 2008-2010 Saturn Outlook models, the wiring that controls these safety features could be faulty.

If this happens, the air bags and seat belt pretensioners might not work properly in a crash, putting you and the front seat passenger at risk of serious injury.

What Happened
The linkages in your windshield wipers are the parts that connect the wiper arm to the wiper motor. In some 2011-2012 Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia models, ice or snow can build up on these linkages and loosen the wiper arm, causing it to stop working.
Risk if Unfixed
If the wiper arm freezes in place, you could lose visibility while driving, especially in snowy or icy conditions. This makes it harder to see the road and increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will tighten the wiper arm nuts to prevent the wiper arm from loosening, and this repair is completely free. You should schedule the fix as soon as you get the recall notice.

What Happened
The gas struts on your power liftgate hold it up when it's open. In some cases, these struts can wear out too quickly, causing the liftgate to fall.

If the liftgate falls unexpectedly, it could hit someone, potentially causing injury.

Your dealer will update the software that controls the power liftgate actuator, so it won't close too quickly. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured January 3, 2007, to February 29, 2012, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured July 6, 2008, to March 9, 2012, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured September 15, 2006, to February 29, 2012, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured August 17, 2006, to March 18, 2010. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall.
