What Happened
The flexible steel cable in your seatbelt is the part that connects the seatbelt to your front seat. Over time, this cable can weaken and break, which could leave you unrestrained in a crash.
Risk if Unfixed
If the steel cable breaks, your seatbelt might not work properly, putting you at risk of serious injury in a crash. You could be thrown around the cabin or ejected from the vehicle.
Free Fix
Your dealer will inspect and repair or replace the seatbelt's lap pretensioner, which is the part that tightens the seatbelt during a crash — free of charge. You'll get a letter with instructions when parts become available, and you should schedule the repair as soon as possible.

Risk if Unfixed
If the buckle is damaged, your safety belt might not restrain you properly during a crash, which could increase the risk of serious injury to you.
Free Fix
Your dealer will modify the seat side trim shields and replace any damaged safety belt buckles, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

Original — What Happened
GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, BUICK ENCLAVE, GMC ACADIA, AND SATURN OUTLOOK VEHICLES. THE SECOND ROW SEAT SIDE TRIM SHIELD RESTRICTS THE UPWARD ROTATION OF THE SAFETY BELT BUCKLE WHEN THE SEAT BACK IS RETURNED TO A SEATING POSITION AFTER BEING FOLDED FLAT. IF THE BUCKLE CONTACTS THE SEAT FRAME, ADDITIONAL EFFORT IS REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SEAT TO A SEATING POSITION. IF SUFFICIENT FORCE IS APPLIED, THE BUCKLE COVER COULD BE PUSHED DOWN THE STRAP, EXPOSING AND PARTIALLY DEPRESSING THE RED RELEASE BUTTON.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
THE SAFETY BELT MAY NOT RESTRAIN THE OCCUPANT AS INTENDED DURING A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE SEAT OCCUPANT.
