Component
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The turbocharger in your Audi is a vital component that helps your engine breathe. The oil strainer is a small filter that keeps the oil flowing to the turbocharger. In some 2013-2017 models, this strainer can get clogged, starving the turbocharger of the oil it needs.
Risk if Unfixed
If the turbocharger doesn't get enough oil, the bearings can wear down. This can cause the turbine wheel to scrape against the turbocharger housing or even break the shaft, leading to an unexpected engine stall. This could make it hard to control your vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the faulty oil strainer and drain and refill the oil in your engine – all at no charge to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.
