What Happened
The engine control module in your Audi A8 or S8 is like the brain of your engine. It helps the engine run smoothly. But in some 2019-2021 models, a small pin that keeps moisture out could be missing.
Risk if Unfixed
If water gets into the engine control module, it could fail, and your engine might stall while you're driving. This could make it harder to control your vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.

Your Audi dealer will check the engine control module connector for the missing pin and seal, and fix it if needed. They'll also inspect for corrosion and replace the connector if necessary – all for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Audi A8 and 2020-2021 Audi S8 vehicles. A missing sealing pin may allow moisture to enter the engine control module connector, possibly causing a control module malfunction.

Audi will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine control module connector for a missing sealing pin, and install it, if necessary. The connector will also be inspected for corrosion, and replaced as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 12, 20121. SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY

The lock nut on your rear axle is a critical part that keeps the suspension stable. In some 2021 models, this nut can weaken and break due to corrosion, which can cause big problems on the road.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

What Happened
Your vehicle's rearview camera system is a critical safety feature that helps you see what's behind your car. In some 2019-2026 models, a software glitch might prevent the camera image from showing up on your display.
Risk if Unfixed
Without a clear rearview image, you may not be able to see children, pets, or other obstacles behind your vehicle, which could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will update the camera system's software to fix the issue, and this repair will be done at no cost to you. You should schedule the update as soon as possible after receiving the recall notice.

A software error may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
